Presentations The Plumbing and Drainage
Institute specializes in providing information and training on the usage and
installation of Grease Interceptors and Water Hammer Arresters. The
following presentations are currently available:

Trans Fats: What is FOG? How does it
break down? Where does it come from? What are Trans Fats and
Zero Trans Fats oils? (30 Minutes)

SSO, Sanitary Sewer Overflows:
Responsibility, EPA violations and enforcement. FOG role in
SSO's. (30 Minutes)

Myths and Facts: Discusses common
misunderstandings on Grease and Grease Interception such as effects
of over sizing interceptors and hot water on grease separations,
cleaning frequency. (30
Minutes)

Capturing the Grease: Best management
practices for capturing grease and oil before it enters the drain.
Operation of Gravity and Hydro Mechanical Grease Interceptors,
sizing and installation of interceptors, Plumbing Code requirements,
UPC and IPC are also covered. (60 Minutes)

Questions and Answers: This presentation
hits on all the important points from all the presentations.
It is a question and answer format. This can be used as a wrap
up with the other presentations or as a "stand alone" presentation
where the attendees have prior knowledge of Grease and Grease
Interception. (45 Minutes)
These
programs are complimentary by the Plumbing and Drainage Institute and
are presented by Rand Ackroyd, the Executive Director of the Plumbing
and Drainage Institute. PDI is an association of manufacturers of
engineered plumbing products in a business area commonly referred to by
the mechanical side of the construction industry as "the drain
business." The members and licensees make products such as: floor
drains, roof drains, sanitary floor drains, cleanouts, water hammer
arresters, swimming pool drains, backwater valves, grease interceptors,
fixture supports, and other drainage specialties.
Speaker
Bio:
Mr.
Ackroyd has been associated with PDI for 15 years and is an active member of
IAPMO, ASSE, ABPA, ASME, AWWA and USCFCCC. He received a Bachelor of
Science from Northeastern University. His career began in 1972 with
plumbing product design with Watts Regulator. After 25 years in
product development, in 1997, he founded Rand Technical Consulting, Codes
and Standards Consulting. Mr. Ackroyd also participates in the development of Model Plumbing Codes and
Plumbing Product Standards and provides engineering expertise for
litigation. His background includes all aspects of plumbing and
hydronic heating disciplines with areas of expertise including backflow
prevention, pressure regulation, temperature control and safety pressure
relief valves.
